Our Review
Is Garmin Golflogix 2008 the perfect range finder/ yardage measure?
In short, yes it is.
We reviewed the 2007 edition which attained near perfection and we can say that this year they got it perfect. It’s easy to setup - you just download courses with the easy to use software and go. One you get to the course, it’s even easier to use.
We plan on getting into more detail with this product as soon as possible. But, to be frank, I’m having just too much fun with it out on the course. And, now that it’s late September and I’m from the north, golf season is almost over. So, I better keep using it to improve my game!

Review
If you’re well off or want to start a golf business, or you are REALLY REALLY serious about golf you will want a launch monitor. Personally, I had to borrow this one from a friend who runs a golf store just to review it. They’re very pricey, but in my opinion, well worth the cost. The Zelocity Pure Launch golf monitor does the job very very well.
If you’re a golf instructor who trains golfers with a serious dedication to imiprove their shots, this device will help you a great deal. It uses two (2) Doppler radars connected to a PC with usb connection to record the huge ammount of data associated with a golf swing. The Dopler radars will track the swing and the hit a record any critical info about your golf swing, the velocity of the ball, the speed of the head of the club, the distance carry, the power transfer ratio as a percentile, the spin, shot simulation, launch angle, deceleration and acceleration of the club, and other various pieces of data. All this being said, this device will a help you to analyze the performance of a golfer or a golf club.
I used the device for only 1 day, and it helped me, with the help of my technician friend, to better determine the little quibbles with my golf swing. Additionally, it helped me to determine which clubs (drivers, irons) are the best for me and which are the best period. If I were to review golf clubs or build custom golf clubs for a living, I would want this device to help me determine which clubs are the best. I can hit a wicked shot and analyse every little detail of it! This device is great.
Instantly, accurately displays & records critical information for every shot. Builds history for analysis & improvement. Easy to use. Sets up in seconds. Lightweight & completely portable for use indoors or outdoors. Accommodates both left and right handed swings. One-year Warranty and customer service included. Made in USA
Pros
- a must for any business owner (Golf Town types out there!)
- helps to drastically improve your game, if you are a good golfer
- I’m a rightie, but it can be used for left handed golfers as well
- indoor / outdoor
- super quick setup time. We moved it from my buddy’s place and had it set-up outside in like 20 minutes; including travel time
Cons
- no macintosh support that i know of (I have an Apple laptop!)
- price
PureLaunch™ Specs/ What’s in the box!
Note: this may not be totally accurate, as I was using a used device and never opened the box myself!
- 2 integrated Doppler-radar transceivers to pick up shot information
- folds up to storee, folds out to use
- USB 2.0 connection to the PC
- AC rechargeable battery - gives about 5 hrs of usage on one charge (keep in mind I was testing a used unit, the Zelocity website claims 10 hrs new)
- LaunchMonitor program to interface with the pc (PureLaunch ™ computer software)
- built in mic for club speed measurements
- Warranty Info: Zelocity offers a 1 year factory warranty. Can’t be resold in this time, however
The bottom line is this is a great device, but not for everyone. You have to be serious about golf before you get this gadget. But, as you know, I am SERIOUS about golf!

A surprisingly great golf GPS. I didn’t think it would hold a candle to the gamrin unit, but by comparison, this is a good GPS unit for hitting the golf course.
It works great, but unforunately you have to buy the courses you upload to the unit. They give you five free courses when you first buy it (which is a lot of courses when you think about it {unless youre a golf nut [as I am]}) The GPS can store up to 30 courses and you download em from your PC. This is more than enough course capacity for this handy golf gadget. You can navigate custom waypoints and set them ass you require to set waypoints. You can set the location of bunkers (sand traps), water hazards, OB, bridges, trees, layups with nice little icons that are pleasant to look at.
You can track and store your shots to reviewlater. Which is pretty cool for improving your golf game. Speaking of improving your golf game, this handheld GPS DOES JUST THAT. I have found that I played at least 10% better when using this device (other golf GPS’s can compare, especially the ones by garmin {Check out our Garmin Golf GPS review elsewhere on this site}.
Product Specs
- Full colour display ! Liquid Crystal D

- Digital scorecard

To sum up, The Sonocaddie V300 GPS provides you with precise distance information to any point on the golf hole cousre from where ever you are at the current point in time. This is all tracked in real time. This is a great golf gadget!

OVERALL SCORE: 3.9/5
This is one of the few emerging GPS devices that help you determine yardages on the course. It is the 5th iteration of the device. I have used Golf SkyCaddie SG1, SG3, SG4 (but not SG2) and this version is superior to each. It has a couple of drawbacks for a golf electronic, bu, overall, i would recommend it for a golf GPS device.
Product Description and Features
Specs
- LCD screen
- distance to any where on the green
- provides the depth of the green from the approach you are taking (any angle!)
- backlit screen
- rechargable battery in the unit, jut plug it in
- provides distances to sand trap, water hazards and other golf hazards
- weather resistant
Pros
- great way to hit the pin
- reliable rangefinder
- very accurate
- great golf accesory device
Cons
- may not work in your area
- sometimes not accurate due to GPS error
- does not include all North American golf courses, yet. Canadian golf courses.
Overall, this is a great device for golfers pro and begineer. It is near perfect at determining the yardages for a golf game. NOTE: Make sure to register this device with the web site first. And make sure it has the information uploaded for the golf course you plan on playing. One the golf courses I play was not immediately loaded into the device and it made playign difficult.

The Bushnell 1500 is the ultimate range finder for golfing. When you are out on the course and trying to determine how far away it is to the pin, there is no better device than this on the market to do so. Additionally, it is the perfect device for determing slope on the golf course or the lay of the golf green out there. Before we go into the review, I just have to say - buy this product. Using it to review it, I have improved my golf game by at least 15%. That is no word of a lie, I am a better golfer today than I was a few weeks ago when I started to use this device. Club selection is no longer a weakness in my golf game, I can now determine how far the pin is within sub yard accuracy. Sub yard, even when the golf green is 400 yards away. This device is superior.
Features
- can determine range up to 1400 yards. There is no golf hole, to my knowledge, longer than that
- pocket sized, weighing less than 11 ounces
- Magnification up to 7 time with 19 mm eye relief
- 300+ feet field of view through the optics at 1000 yards distant
- built in tripod mount
- completely waterproof design
- 1.7″x5.1″x3.7″
- one yard range performance accuracy. sub-yard, most of the time
- provides selective targetting modes
Description
The Bushnell golf Pinseeker 1500 is a laser range finder that is completely digital. It uses infrared pulses so the damn thing won’tblind you. And since it uses such an accurate beacon, the thing is perfectly accurate on the golf course. For all intents and purposes this device has it all out there on the links. It has something called a ASIC chip (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) with a small processor and this allows it to quickly calculate any ranges. The distance to the golf flag !
The optics on this device are amazing, I can see crystal clear through it in any weather (yes, I do golf in adverse weather - im hardcore!). It has 7x the zoom and I have not once had trouble locking on to the flag at a long distance. IT can differentiate between stuff in the foreground. Ie. it can see through trees that are in the way of your shot and still lock onto the pin the background. Additionally, it will not mess up and determine the range of the back ground.
Pros
- improve your golf game, guaranteed
- bullseye targeting modes
- you can set it to ignore the foreground ie. bushes and other obstacles in your field of view
- doesn’t accidentally calculate the backround as the range, it can do the pin
- it can be a great range finder for hunters as well. You can use it to pinpoint the distance of a big buck or turkey for making the shot while you are out hunting.
- so many other things
Cons
If you care about your golf game and improving your accuracy on the fairway, you need to buy this golf electronic. It is the best gadget I have ever had the priveledge to use golfing.
Find where the that cup in relation to your pin? USE THIS DEVICE!

Pros
- Easy to use
- affordable! Less than 60 $ new
Cons
- Takes a while to dial in
- can be a bit of a cheap build quality
This little dandy can help you quickly determine the distance to the pin or any other range on the golf course. It can do from 50 - 900+ yards with a nice little optical eye sight and some digital calculations. I would recommend it if you’re on a budget. But there are much better range finders out there.

Like most golfers you probably have trouble telling the distance to the green when youre out on the links. The Galileo Electronic Golf Scope is purportedly the solution to this problem. At first glance it is a pretty nifty golf gadget. You can get it going easily and simply and you can figure out the distance to the green and pin with a 20 millimeter obejective. It provides some nice crispy images that will help you determiner range.

Pros
-quickly determines the range to the golf hole
-works great for any range finding application, my friend who is a hunter uses it to -determine the range to kill deer, turkeys, moose, etc… If you’re into hunting as well as golf

-VERY nice price
Cons
it is sometimes hard to hold it steady enough to lock on to a pole or other small objects
